Right before Hi Records, the legendary Memphis soul-label, signed and launched the career of non-other-than Al Green, they signed a promising young singer, who was paired with producer Willie Mitchell and all-star session rhythm section; drummer Howard Grimes and the wildly funky Hodges Brothers on guitar, keys, and bass. Known for her later 1973 hit "Can't Stand The Rain" and myriad samples thereof, from the Hip Hop generation, she had already strung together four hit singles from her second release, Hi Records release "Straight From The Heart".
